A BIT OF BACKGROUND HISTORY
My name is Diana Neverson (my pen name being Aandi Greenway). I was born in a small town in Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom in January 1964 (for those of you who are into astrological signs). My parents are from St Vincent, a small island in the Caribbean and have since retired there. I have three brothers and one sister. To date I have fourteen nieces and nephews. We are a close family and always have a big family get-together when our parents are in the UK. I now live in Hampshire, United Kingdom having moved a couple of times previously as I was married for eleven years to a soldier.
I have two grown-up children (I know they are not children, but what do we call our adult kids?) My daughter is 31 and my son is 24 (2011) both born in the month of October and very accomplished individuals and I am very proud of them.
I work full-time as a long haul Air Hostess with a very well-known British Airline and have done for the past twelve years and love this job immensely. This was my dream job ever since I was a child and achieved it back in 2000 and have never been disappointed, in fact it surpassed all my expectations.
MY WRITING INSPIRATIONS
I have always had a wild imagination, even as a child and day dreaming was my art instead of listening in the class. There was always much more interesting things going on with the clouds, the tops of the trees, the birds and all the different colours around me. I had a teacher back then who loved the works of William Wordsworth and she would always be quoting lines from one of his poems and she would put so much emphasis into what she was reading and I just wanted someone to feel that much emotion from reading something I wrote.
In my younger days, I used to like stories written by Danielle Steel, then as I got older, I moved on to enjoy books by Nick Hornby, Tony Parsons, Zadie Smith, Kazuo Ishiguro, Mike Gayle – just to name a few, but I am the kind of reader (and not a very fast one at that), who would just choose a book that firstly caught my eye and then captured me from the synopsis (and even sometimes I have been known to choose a book purely on the design of the cover).
MY FIRST PUBLICATION
My first book – Shoy, was published in February 2004 by 1st Books (now called AuthorHouse). Since then Shoy was re-released August 2011 with some changes made to it. The sequel comes out early next year. You can order Shoy from Amazon.co.uk and is available on Kindle and Paperback.
Currently I am working on a few projects:
– A Children’s story called ‘Fairies and the Weeds’ and will be illustrated by my daughter
– A Love Story called ‘I Will Love You When I Can’
– A Play called ‘Family Ways’ (first attempt at a play)
I am very lucky in that my job allows me to be in some very nice places around the world and that fuels my imagination. I love to people watch and stories come to life just from doing that. I suppose I am a bit strange and quirky in that I cannot write in total silence and to that end I am either in a hotel lobby or a coffee shop where I can pause, look up and watch the people around me going about their business or over-hear various bits of conversations which begs a story in itself. When at home, I often write with the television on in the background, not music though as I do find that very distracting making me want to stop, sing and dance.
